The cover at the entrance was pushed aside and everyone turned to see Dardanos walk in.
Tati cheered, “Hey, look who’s here! I was wondering when you were going to show up.”
Dardanos looked very angry but the moment he laid his eyes on Alina his expression changed to stunned. He recovered from the bedazzlement rather quickly and turned to Cotiso.
“What is she doing out of the wagon?”
Cotiso replied, “Come and join us.”
Dardanos fumed. “What. Is she doing. Out of the wagon? We had a deal.”
Corina said quietly to Tati, “I think we should call the evening early. Master?”
“I guess so, I do feel rather sleepy,” Tati said as he struggled to his feet. “Well then, Cotiso, thank you so much for the invitation. Tomorrow night we’ll have dinner in my tent. Agree?”
“I apologize.”
Tati waved at him not to worry. “Nonsense, there’s nothing I enjoy more than these evenings we spend together. Aside from Corina’s nights of course, ow!” He yelped from yet another pinch and cut the conversation short. “Well then, goodnight, everyone.”
Tati had taken his first clumsy steps when he stopped and whispered to Corina, who was holding his arm to aid him, “My drink, don’t forget my drink.”
