The boys enrolled in school on the reservation. Angeni made sure she took plenty of pictures of every body even Grandma Bear swinging Ninovan in a swing that Grandpa Bear made for her.
She sent three sets of pictures to Allen to share with Mr. Hastings which the elder Mr. hastings had to show Mrs. White the pictures. In one of her pictures there was Leoti's sister who looked a lot like Leoti. That made Mrs. White gasped. He just laughed and thought you old busybody deserves everything that is coming to you
Things had improved greatly. At least there was enough food for all of them. Sometimes in the city Angeni took turns with Koatohee skipping a meal so the rest had enough to eat. Here they could live on grains, rabbit, squirels, on a lot of corn on the cob which Angeni knew how to scrape the corn off of ear and then would puree it with a little bit of butter and milk for Ninovan.
That is how she made Corn Cakes and Corn Chowder also. With Granpa and Grandma Bear's help and the boys in school she could get a job to pay for utilities and special events. She also got sapp from the maple trees and made homemade Maple syrup. She tried to chop wood but instead had to pay one of the young Indian men to do that. She was using an axe which is extremely hard for a teenage girl. She didn't have a saw.
