Amanda put the box on the table in the laundry room when Ashley and the two young men came in. While Amanda took care of Rosa while the other three started carrying down boxes and stacking them into uncle Sam's old room. They divided up the boxes according to their labels. Most of the boxes was labeled by rooms but there were a few labeled for Amanda and Ashley then by items. One box was labeled Sam's tools. one labeled dinnner bells, one knick knacks.
Shortly their uncle Jason showed up with a truck to take the items to the church. The young women started with boxes labeled kitchen items. Aunt Rosa told them that was their grandmother things that she wanted her granddaughters to split among themselves. Ashley laid it aside and picked up the box that was labeled Sam's tools. Rosa told their Jason that Sam wanted him to have them. He sat it on the back porch.
The knick knack box when opened was given to their uncle Jason to take to the church. After going through all of the boxes of things the young women did keep their grandmother's things plus their own parents things. It was really late in the evening when Amanda remembered the box. Amanda and Ashley sat at the kitchen table pulling out newspaper clippings about both sets of their parents The story that was told to the girls by that librarian was true. They had the newspaper article about a couple with their parents names had came up missing. Their car was abandon at a service station in Springfield on route 66.
