Aldrec took her hands into his, brought them to his face, and kissed them. "Meri … Tulyr … I promise you that I will one day tell you everything. But I must ask that you trust me for now, as you've trusted me before, and to please be patient for just awhile longer. Believe me when I say this: you're not ready to know what I know. It has never been my intention to deceive you, or to hide things from you, but some things are better left unknown until the time is right."
Aldrec's eyes shone with such an intense, earnest light as he spoke, that Mericlou had lost her incentive to argue. Slowly, she nodded in acquiescence, and once again, he smiled. He pulled her close, into another sweet embrace that quickly drained away her concerns.
"My sweet Tulyr, don't be sad. I promise that you will know everything soon."
