Dantalion of the Goetia: Taste the Obsession of a Demon - Page 42/108

Many of the Goetic demons were considered gods or angels in many other cultures. Not all of them were evil. I wasn't sure how he is controlled by the demon Gwynnedd, although there must be some power she holds over him greater than his own. He told me the angelic order subjected him to her punishment when he fell from grace. I haven't heard his voice in months, and he stays away. The only thing I have left of him is the mark of a demon on my forearm. I fell asleep in my bed with the Ars Goetia across the top of my body.

I felt desert sand so familiar to me surround my body, and a female soul washed over my own.

"You are a perfect likeness," a voice spoke to me.

I knew it was Lilith.

"My words evoked Dantalion, yet you did not follow through with the sacrifice," she whispered.

"I know about you," I answered. "Dantalion told me you are alive in my spirit. I DID sacrifice myself for him. He healed me and pulled the dagger from my chest."

"He has wasted his chance for salvation!" Lilith said disappointedly. "I hath waited two ages to summon his return, only an immortal soul can release him!"

I felt like I was staring into my own reflection, her dark hair and pale skin mirrored mine.

"Dantalion didn't' think it a fair exchange, the life of a mortal girl for a demon's immortality." I repeated what he had told me.

"He is foolish to say such things," Lilith appeared anxious.

"Am I the embodiment of your soul?" I asked her, afraid to hear the truth.

"We have both come from the desert. The ancients who believe in past lives say we are of the same blood," Lilith's haunting voice pierced through me.

"But I am of mortal blood," I argued.

"When I was taken to the afterlife, I was given immortality," Lilith beamed. "Your blood pulses immortal."

She didn't say by what means she obtained her immortality. That is how Dantalion became my obsession.

"Dantalion saved my life," I cried. "He wouldn't let me die for a chance at restoring his immortality."

"Does thy know of the ancients' vision, the fallen one who calls to you?" Lilith asked.

"Is it Dantalion who will come for me?"

Lilith reached out to touch me, with a sinister laugh, "No, tis not Dantalion who calls for you..."
