Dantalion of the Goetia: Taste the Obsession of a Demon - Page 64/108

"I almost forgot - Rowan!" I reminded Dantalion. "Where is he? I didn't see him the other night."

Dantalion seemed uneasy.

"You really have feelings for him, I can sense it," he responded.

I felt uncomfortably nervous. I was used to Rowan feeling slightly jealous about Dantalion, but now, it was the opposite and Dantalion was becoming obsessive. He grabbed me, pulling me closer.

"This is what you want? This is what I am, a shape shifted, condemned demon of the Goetia!" his voice resounded off the banks of the waterfall, dissipating as quickly as he spoke them. It was deathly silent.

"I don't care! I've seen you human, I've seen you demon. You change your appearance, you change your moods. None of it matters. I can't breathe when you're not with me!" I cried, gripping him around one shoulder, my face buried into his chest.

Calmly, we gathered our emotions, staring at the water pooling around us.

I tried asking him again…"So, where IS Rowan, Dantalion?"

"He is free to frequent this realm or yours, although I warned him he should stay close by."

Dantalion kept his word. He led me back to the Courtyard's stone border at the other end of the waterfall. The familiar scent of wisteria drifted past the jagged rock beneath the altar.

"This was where it began. My fall from grace," Dantalion sounded haunted.

We both stood there, leaning against the stone wall for a minute, glancing over at the altar in front of us.

"It was because of the mortal girl you loved, Lilith." I wanted to know more about Dantalion's love for her.

"Yes. She was pure of heart. I was guardian of mankind. Temptation brought upon my exile. I had always thought she would return to me. You are the perfect likeness in body and spirit of Lilith," he reminded me, staring into my eyes.

After all he went through for me, I knew completely that it was me he loved.

It was dark out now, and out of the corner of my eye I caught something moving at the other end of the Courtyard. It was Rowan.

"Rowan!" I ran over to him. "Are you okay?" I hugged him. He looked exhausted.

"Yea, I'm good." He had scratches all over his face and body and his clothes were filthy.

"Why is it that we always find each other here?" he laughed.

I smiled. He seemed like his usual self, though there was something slightly off about him. Something, different.
