Dantalion of the Goetia: The Summoning - Page 56/67

Rowan stared at me like a wounded animal. Don't trust any of them Laurel… you have the ability to wield fire… you can take down every one of us right here and right now if you really wanted… except for the 'Incubus'… only…."

Rowan glanced over at Dantalion, silent as the grave, his glowing eyes fixed on Samael and Gwynnedd.

"Trials must commence for the final two Kings of Hell, though I beg ye Dantalion… thy cannot show mercy here. Remember… my name sits upon the lips of the condemned. Where I tread, hell must surely follow," the Angel of Death lamented.

"What? No! Rowan pulled away, casting a protective aura of divine magick around us momentarily… long enough for him to say what he wanted to say since the fist time we kissed in the grove.

"Remember the meadow veiled with wildflowers? The quiet calm? Everything crystal clear? That's what it's like when I hold you… that's what it's like when you love someone."

His dark eyes swelled up, shifting past my own to glance at the hell we were about to embrace.

"Do what you want… he consumed her… he's gonna consume you too. He wants freedom from his curse." Before I could say anything, Rowan let me go, unblocking the aura holding us from the others.

Dantalion tested his new found powers, sending me high above the Southern Realm. "Demonic powers are much easier to master than supernal ones," Dantalion's killer smile was replaced by the familiar canines I remembered.

I tried to contain anger, my powers soaring out of control. All I could think of was what I saw and heard from Rowan. Dantalion consuming Lilith… setting her free. My thoughts transformed into jealous rage.

"You don't think I know what you've done?" my words cold and unforgiving.

I could see it in his eyes… that unrelenting curse. Controlling him and everything he touched.

"I never asked to be guardian of the mortal dominion, I was born unto it. And my demonic curse was because I defied it. Now, together, we must end it." He stared into my hybrid demon eyes. "You always thought I was the obsession… but it was you… it was always you…."

He was right. His blood pulsed through mine like a poison. I began to see what happens to demons with a curse… everything around them becomes cursed… even the ones they love.

"Samael is the harbinger of death…. he prophesizes the fall of both guardian and man. It matters not whether we are immortal, angel or demon… death comes to us all," Dantalion locked his claws with mine. "We have yet to confront Lucifer and Leviathan."
