Vivek shouted,” Varun, We must go and get ready now. Come on” so Varun came back to his senses and went to get ready.
At 6.00am,
Maya got ready who was dressed up in turquoise-pink color silk saree. The beautician had tied her hair to a bun adorned with flowers in typical Brahmin bridal style also they had applied kajal, mascara and light shade of cherry red lipstick which complimented her loveliness. She had worn 3 different size of necklace which was of made of pearl, pearl waist band, Maang tikka, a ring and anklets.
Varun on the other hand was dressed in ‘Panchakatcham’ (a traditional vesti attire for Brahmin groom) with a bare-chest. They had placed kajal in his cheeks to get rid of the evil-sight.
Vivek and Maya’s atthai came and called Varun to come out to start with the Kashi Yatra rituals. Varun saw his bare-chest and it reminded him of Maya asking him so he took the angavastram(the upper silk garment usually in towel size) to cover his chest and came outside. Shiva came and made him to wore the garlands around his neck.
They started with the Kashi yatra, where the groom goes for a mock pilgrimage were the bride father must preach him the values of marriage also promises to give his daughter as his companion. Varun held an umbrella, a wooden handmade fan, a walking stick, ana a towel containing dhal and rice tied around his shoulder and went for the mock pilgrimage.
