“Edward you don‘t need to remind me,” Ogbonna protested. “I‘m doing everything possible, trust me.”
Edward got into the Mercedes and closed the door, “Is there anything like that, trust?” he muttered to himself. Winding down the window he said, “Thanks a lot... for everything.”
“You‘re welcome.”
Edward put the car in reverse and sped out of the car park.
The PA shook his head and went back into the building. He still had much work to do.

“He knows what‘s going on now.”
“He does?” The person at the other end laughed long and hard. “How did he react?”
“He took it hard, had to leave the room for a while.”
“I wish I could‘ve seen the high and mighty Edward Bestman stewing in his juices. Did you find out the person behind that seven percent with the non-voting brokers?”
No we didn‘t, but we‘re on it. That may be the last stand of the takeover since most brokers with voting rights will likely go with you. Edward is hinging a lot of hope on buying up that seven percent shares as soon as he can. People who own Bestman shares are lucky in these times. Is your group on that too?”
“Yes we are. Let us know if anything turns up on your side. I hope they do not suspect you?”
“Don‘t think so, I do my work too well. And you said I won‘t do this much longer?”
“No, everything is in place now, just keep your head down. You‘ll be settled once we get in.”
“I just wanted to be sure. I have to go now; I only called this late because you said to let you know.”
“Of course, thank you and keep us in the loop.” The phone clicked off.

Edward slowed his speed once he got onto the open road. His feelings were so riotous; he didn‘t want to risk driving off one of the bridges. He wondered whether to talk to Gladys once he got home or wait till morning. He didn‘t think he could wait; he would wake her even if she was sleeping. With the roads free of traffic as they were at this hour of the night, he would be home in less than thirty minutes. He would use this time to gather his thoughts.
