Hard to explain if she awoke.
Unfamiliar sounds finally broke through rousing the sprawled figure from a deep though unrefreshing sleep. The now familiar sense of uneasiness was not helped when a leisurely stretch connected with a solid lump making both occupants of the bed jump. The smaller one recovered first.
'It's 'bout time you woked up.' declared the impatient child sitting at the foot of the bed. 'I've been sitting here for hours and hours waiting for you. Can I pick today's name, can I, can I? Pleeease.' Thereby explaining her early morning visit.
'Oh I suppose so but I have to…'
'Cindy!'
'Uh,uh. That's Barbie's sister isn't it?' Cindy said.
'How about Candy?'
'Too sweet.' Giggled Candy.
'Cassidy then.'
'That sounds like a cat.' She meowed 'What about Charlotte?' Charlotte offered and was suitably if not honestly contrite when reprimanded by Chloe.
'That's not a 'ker' name silly and I don't know anymore 'ker' names.'
The crossing of her arms and furrowed brow indicated the child wasn't happy when none of her preferred names were chosen.
'May I? You can tell me if my choice suits me.'
Only slightly mollified Chloe nodded.
'I thought I might be Cathie.'
Jumping up she squealed "Cathie"! My teacher at school is called Cathy though she's way, way taller than you. You're prettier though.' She added.
'Cathie it is then.'
'Cathie…you have to get…up now. Dad's having…breakfast and Dar…lene's made her speckle pancakes…with mouldy syrup. I…poured your juice.' She added proudly as she jumped trampoline style on the huge bed.
'What's going on here?' Ethan called from the doorway his silhouette filling the space. 'Chloe I told you not to wake Belinda─'
'Ca…thie!'
'─Cathie, up.-Stop jumping.- Did you? She needs her rest. I'm sorry that I …' Ethan's breath caught in his throat as once his eyes adjusted to the gloom he could see Cathie in her tousled beauty. She was resting back on one elbow her other hand shielding her eyes against the light streaming in around Ethan. The pose thrust her breasts against the straining fabric of her lacy violet nightie. Ethan was sure that she didn't realise how revealing her gown was or how enticing she looked. He was glad that his quickly straining fly was hidden by the shadow.
Cathie chipped in when Ethan didn't continue. 'Its fine Ethan I was awake anyway.'
Ethan coughed and despite clearing his throat continued gruffly. 'I need to go to work now. Darlene has instructions to take you shopping for clothes─' he raised his hand to stop her interruption-'and whatever else you need. David will return after taking me downtown to drive you around for the day.'
