"I've changed my mind. I don't want a divorce." Angela Motaung said playing with a napkin.
"It's too late now. The divorce proceedings are already done." Mandisa said flipping through her papers. "Your husband's attorney sent me the settlement this afternoon and all that is left is for you to look it through and sign."
"But I love him and he loves me. I don't want a divorce."
"But he does." Mandisa said locating the sheet of paper she had been looking for. She slid it towards Angela who didn't even bother to look at it.
"But I love being married to him. He is a wonderful husband."
"You should have thought about that before breaking your marriage vows." Mandisa said unsympathetically. She didn't care for Angela Motaung. The woman was self absorbed, obnoxious and irritating to say the least. She was thirty two years old but behaved like a sixteen year old. She had been married for eight years and had only been faithful for three months to her husband. She was beautiful and she knew it. Even Bonisile who was a model slash actress wasn't as beautiful as Angela Motaung, a house wife. When her husband had married her, he had thought he was the luckiest man alive. Little did he know that Angela was only faithful to her needs and her flesh.
"Isn't there something you can do to make him forgive me?" Angela asked hopeful. Most people mistaken lawyers for miracle workers, Angela was no different. She expected Mandisa to whip out her magical wand and make her husband love her again.
"Sure. I can make him believe you are a changed person but you should be willing to become a nun." Mandisa said sarcastically.
"A nun? Don't you think that is a little bit extreme?" Angela asked shivering, the sarcasm lost on her. Just the mere thought of not having sex terrified her. Mandisa felt like slapping her. The world had gone to the dogs because of people like her. Sex and marriage were no longer as sacred as they used to be.
It made Mandisa sick. She was old fashioned and didn't believe in giving herself to any man who smiled her way.
Mandisa wished she was representing Angela's husband instead of her. She had met the man once and liked him instantly. He was kind, sensitive and a hard worker. He was on top of his game due to hard work and his only mistake was thinking Angela had a heart.
"That is the only thing that would make your husband forgive you, however the two of you will still be divorced. Now if you can just…" Mandisa lost her trail of thought as the most powerful, luring smell tantalized her senses. She closed her eyes and breathed in the scent. It was like nothing she had ever smelled before. It was manly, strong with a hint of sweetness. Mandisa opened her eyes and turned to locate the person who dared to represent such cologne. Her eyes fixed on a tall, well built man in a grey business suit. She could only see his back as a waitress led him to his table. He was impressive to say the least. Mandisa found she was eager to see his face. Was it as appealing as his cologne, as hard as his body and as confident as his walk? She stared at the man until he sat down and she got a glimpse of his face. She wasn't disappointed. His face was as perfect as if curved on stone. He had a square strong chin, small hawk-like eyes that appeared closed. A cute nose, it wasn't big or small, just perfect and his lips…Mandisa couldn't help but lick her own and wonder what it would be like to connect her lips with his.
