They talked about the day, she told him she chose her wedding gown, but she said, "I'm not describing it to you I don't want to chance any bad luck" he laughed and said, I think that's only if I'd see you in it before the wedding, but that's okay we won't take any chances.
I wish you'd tell me more about the honeymoon you've got planned for us; I've never heard that it's bad luck for the bride to know where she's going?" "Nice try, but I'd like for it to be a surprise for you, I will only say, that you will be able to get in touch with your inner child before you have a child of your own"
"Well now, that's a riddle, I'll have to give some thought too won't I?"
They walked slowly back to the cabin, where they had a great dinner which they ended up preparing together and as they were having their coffee, Candee said, "Starke I've been giving some thought to something and I'm wondering what you think about this?" "What is it sweetheart?" "I was thinking that we should both see a doctor for a checkup before we are married just to make sure we're both in good health, how do you feel about that?" as she looked up at him, she was horrified to see that he had gone pale, she said, oh my god, I'm so sorry, your thinking about Marie and what you went through with her illness and all, I'm so sorry I brought this up. "It's okay, yes the thought of one of us being ill brought back a flood of memories, but I do understand, and I'm sure we're both healthy and it wouldn't really change my mind because I want us to be together for whatever time we have left on this earth, and that's just the way it's going to be. So yes, I agree let's do it"
That night Starke had dreams, the likes of which he had not had for a long time, they were of Marie and Candee and were so mixed up he woke and looked over at the women in his bed to see which one it was.
In the morning over breakfast he told Candee of his dreams, he said, "in the dream Marie was healthy, and I was telling her about you and our plans, you were there listening, and she did not get angry or upset she listened to me and I said well, what do you think?" And all she did was smile, I looked over at you and you had tears running down your face, he looked up at her then and she smiled and it was the same beautiful smile. They quietly finished their coffee and then Candee broke the silence, I think we'd better go see if we've got company waiting for us outside, and she got up to get the fruit out and to start cutting it into bite size pieces.
