At first she was hesitant to present the idea to Alex. He might think it would interfere with their time together, but when she mentioned it, he thought it was a great idea. They all looked forward to the next year and a vacation to another state - possibly Alaska - and making new friends in the process.
She had always thought of their wealth as unimportant, but it was important. Yes, they were happy with their modest home. She appreciated the security of knowing if the car broke down, they could simply buy another one. Not the least of the benefits she recognized was the opportunity for all of their children to go to college. Until this vacation, she had never thought about the ability to travel and observe other cultures. They didn't have to live in a lavish hacienda to entertain others, though. The best way to enjoy their wealth was to share - not in giving it to others, and not only in sharing family vacations, but in the sharing of family experiences. They had so much and there were so many who had so little. A person didn't need money to reach out and help others, but it certainly helped.
