The long ride back provided Dean with much needed think-time. His stomach wanted to know why he didn't stop for dinner but he ignored it. Aside from a wasted 20 minutes searching for gas in New Brunswick and a missed exit on the Garden State Parkway, the trip was uneventful. Cynthia was right; he knew she was. While he had no business clogging up her life with a potpourri of unsubstantiated garbage, it was equally unfair to have a relationship while holding back the truth from someone you cared for. More importantly, Cynthia Byrne was dead right in saying he had no business being chauvinistic in trying to protect this woman from his suspicions. Now that his opportunity for a future with her was blown, she at least deserved the truth and he would find it. David Dean had a strong idea where he might find the elusive sonof-a-bitch who was the heart of all this trouble. David Dean would be making a trip to Colorado.
