Chapter 106: Little shit, watch how I take care of you!
Cold sweat broke out on Zhang Xiao Qiang’s forehead, dripping onto his shirt. He was feeling out of breath but he didn’t even dare to pant, his face flushed red. The S2 was right in front of him, swiveling about trying to listen for his whereabouts. Fortunately, the S2’s sense of smell had been damaged, it did not know that Zhang Xiao Qiang was just barely 5m away from it. His light breathing and the sounds of his heart beating was also blown towards another direction by the wind.
At this time, both of them were rigid and tense, maintaining some strange sort of impasse. Zhang Xiao Qiang eyed the S2, all the while cursing the owner of the stall with the signboard. For the sake of saving money, the owner had actually scrimped on the material! What a load of trash!
Earlier, he had thought that it was a sturdy piece of metal, who knew that it was just framed in metal, whereas the entire thing had been made of plastic. Such a deception had almost cost Zhang Xiao Qiang his life.
He laid on the ground, each second passing painfully. He thought back to the dagger that he had picked off the old man, and his hand crept towards his waist. Wait a minute? Where was it?! He was afraid that he might have kept it in the other pocket and gently flipped himself over, reaching for the other side. It’s not there! He started to panic and knew he was definitely left with his fists.
His breathing became rushed, and the hurried breathing attracted the attention of the S2. It stopped and tried to listen carefully. At that moment, Zhang Xiao Qiang quickly held his breath, not daring to breathe out. The S2 continued to listen out carefully, and Zhang Xiao Qiang felt himself suffocating. His heartbeat became even more rapid, as though it was right by his ear. He looked at the S2 and was prepared to fight it out with it. So what if he died? He would go out like a boss! It would at least be better than dying from breathlessness!
Fortunately, the S2 resumed listening out elsewhere, and Zhang Xiao Qiang tried his best to slowly let out his breath, and breathe in fresh air slowly but steadily. After a few times, the feeling of suffocation gradually subsided.
Eyeing the S2 in front of him, he was again reminded of the missing dagger. Where could it have gone? His brain whirred, and he thought back to dinner last night. He had tried out the dagger and was mocked by Yang Ke’er for having such an ugly knife. In order to show her lack of appreciation for authentic goods, he had sliced the table lightly, causing the wood to be sliced through like tofu. Her eyes had sparkled then, and he had smugly kept the dagger.
If he recalled correctly, she had been the one to call him up today? Knowing her for so long, she had never taken the initiative to wake up first. She had even helped him prepare his clothes… wait a minute!! Take his clothes?! Since when was she so caring?!
“@#¥%¥#@¥%······” Zhang Xiao Qiang was cursing at her in his heart, there was no need to find, the dagger was definitely stolen by that lass, how is she always so fast at this?!
The S2 had been listening for so long to no avail and was beginning to get anxious. Zhang Xiao Qiang also felt anxious laying just 5m away from the zombie. As long as he could get his hands on the Beast Horn Spear, it would be a simple matter of killing it. However, he had no weapons now and had no choice but to pretend to be a dead dog.
The speed of the S2 pacing about was extremely fast, and soon it was gradually drawing closer to Zhang Xiao Qiang. “Chance!” His heart leaped, and he struck out fiercely with his right leg, causing the S2 to stumble forward. Zhang Xiao Qiang took the opportunity to roll out onto the legs of the S2, pressing it under him.
He then got onto the back of the S2 and sent a number of fists raining on its head. However, it was a pity his fists weren’t as powerful as hammers, nor had he trained in the ‘Iron Palm Fist’. His blows were ineffective against the S2, which was struggling while pinned under Zhang Xiao Qiang. It was still very lively, and almost sent Zhang Xiao Qiang flying from its back.
He was now riding the back of the proverbial tiger and not able to get off. He could only try to continue and pummel the S2’s head. Each time his blow landed, his Stamina would deplete bit by bit, while the thrashing of the S2 became even more violent. Towards the end, Zhang Xiao Qiang had no choice but to use both hands to grab onto the brain to hold on.
He continued to press down on the brain of the S2, while his body swayed and rose together with the movements of the S2. While holding on, he was praying in his heart: “Please don’t let Yang Ke’er and the rest come out now, this scene is too humiliating!”
It was unclear why all the zombies seemed to be so energetic. The higher the evolution stage, the longer they lasted. Previously he had tangled with the D2 for a good half-day, this time, the S2 was also similar, only starting to falter after such a long time.
The head of the S2 suddenly shook vigorously from side to side, trying to get out of Zhang Xiao Qiang’s grasp. He naturally would not allow that to happen, his hands exhibiting more strength, and pressing its head towards the ground.
With a burst of inspiration, he grabbed the head and bashed it repeatedly on the floor. The thuds rang out constantly, and the struggling S2 became even more frantic. Zhang Xiao Qiang knew this was the final burst of energy before its death, and he became even more careful, using his legs to wrap tightly around its waist, even if his knees were being squashed towards the ground.
The cement beneath the S2’s head was gradually turning black, as the charred flakes of skin and brain matter splattered onto the ground. The S2’s struggling was also gradually becoming weaker until it stopped entirely. When Zhang Xiao Qiang felt that there was no more movement, he didn’t let up, as he continued to bash its head.
He only stopped when he felt himself out of breath and strength. By then, the head of the S2 was like a rotten tomato, half of it gone, with yellow brain juices and blackened blood flowing out slowly. Zhang Xiao Qiang sat on the side and gasped for breath. When he stood up, he felt his whole body aching, this battle had reminded him that under no circumstances should he ever let his guard down towards any evolved zombies. Otherwise, he might just lose his life.
He didn’t even want to turn back to look for his military knife and sword, his entire body was wrecked, and he just wanted to lie and rest. He kicked the body of the S2, and it didn’t move, but the memory of it jumping out of the fire to tackle him was too fresh in his mind. He was afraid that it might be feigning death again. He picked up a rock and smashed it violently on the back of the S2’s head.
“Siiii~~~~~” A huge gaping hole appeared, and the S2 leaped up from the ground, not seeking further trouble with Zhang Xiao Qiang. Instead, it ran about frantically like a decapitated housefly, until it slammed into the wall of a restaurant, before slumping to the ground, twitching. Zhang Xiao Qiang watched it twitched in its final moments and flung the rock away.
“Little shit, you still want to act in front of this brother? Watch how I take care of you!” He turned around towards the carpark. He knew the S2 could feign death, and its life force was much stronger than a cockroach. He decided not to leave it to chance anymore, he must absolutely chop off its damned head.
After retrieving his weapons, he sliced down with his Jing Wei Sword, only then, he turned to return to the house and noticed that Yang Ke’er and Yuan Yi were preparing to step out.
“Ya! You’re back! I was about to call you for dinner!” Yang Ke’er saw that Zhang Xiao Qiang had returned, and was happy. At least she didn’t have to make another trip out. Yuan Yi was more astute and discovered that his situation wasn’t right. His face was weary, his body dirty, and there was even dark stuff on his clothes and face.
“You guys go ahead, I’m going to sleep.” He muttered as he went into the house. Yuan Yi saw that he was slightly limping and immediately stepped forwards to support him into a chair.
“I’ll go get some water to clean you up!” Her bright voice whispered softly, by then Zhang Xiao Qiang’s eyelids were already closing, and he nodded slightly before everything turned black.
When he opened his eyes again, he was lying on a bed, his body clean and fresh. There was a blanket over him, and he looked up at the ceiling above him. He thought to the raging flames consuming the D2 and the hundreds of zombies, as well as the sneak attack and scuffle with the S2, fighting for their own lives.
