Driving away she smiled and thought of part of their conversation. The part where he said, ‘the kids’ mother had to come and pick the kids up to bring them to school’. Did this mean that they don’t live together?

Smiling more now, she drove to work in a better mood than for the past few weeks. As she pulled in the parking lot at work, she realized that she still didn’t know this guy’s name. She didn’t care, maybe it meant they will meet again, she thought.

Next morning, she sat in the cafe wondering where he could be, is he having car problems again? He shouldn’t be, he said his car was in the shop all week. Wait, she thought out loud, feeling stupid now as she looked around hoping no one heard her. Yesterday, she had to run to the store and stayed a little longer at the cafe. That's why she kept missing him. He was coming to the cafe after she had left. She thought all of this, and then decided she was going to test her theory.

She looked at the time and thought, this is the time I usually leave, she got another coffee and as she turned around, there he was walking in the door. She was right. It was just bad timing all this time. The only reason they met was when her car wouldn’t start and she was later than normal. She finally figured it out.
