When The Wolves Howl - Page 2/19

The next day while he was looking over the cases he had agreed to do for some personal friends trying to prioritize the cases and how much money he would charge them. Five or six was easy to take care of because they were speeding tickets and could be taken care of in one afternoon. One of them was a custody case and he didn't think the judge would award one parent over the other. Neither one wanted to budge a little on anything so the judge would have to decide and that might take awhile. Another was a criminial case and his client was facing a five year sentence. He was going to try to get his client a plea deal where instead of prision he would be put on probation and community service. Then his father's old friend who he wanted him to redo his last Will and Testament and when he told him who he wanted to get his place in a little town several miles away he had refused and suggested one of the other lawyers

He called and gave his father's friend a list of very qualified lawyers He left for the courthouse to see if he could work out a plea deal for his client that had got caught up in buying drugs from a street corner drug dealer. His client agreed to the plea deal so that case was a done deal. The custody case got nastier and was put off for a couple of months while the judge ordered them to a marriage counselor. Then he settled all of the speeding tickets. When he got home the timeline for them to be out of their house had changed and the Harding Law Firm was evicting them in ten days. He hugged Joan and said Babe the only case I have left is the custody case and even if I was clear where would we go and then there's your candy shop. I don't know where we are going to live. Joan said in the back room of the shop for awhile I guess..They finished packing up their items to be put in storage except for a few clothes and the sofa that folds down into a bed for two. In the back of the candy shop was a room and then in the back hall was a little bathroom with a small shower but it will have to do They left the house a few days before the county would evict them handing over the keys. They settled into the candy shop's back room and he put a little desk in the hall for his current file which was only one now. he put a sign up in the candy shop's window and did get a few more cases nothing big but would give them a few more dollars
