But she accepted the invitation of his bed as though it were something like sanctuary, and felt a strange stirring within her that was new and different, and somewhat frightening. She gazed into his eyes uncertainly when he offered to embrace her. But as she allowed him to enclose her with arms that felt protective and tender, she felt a thrill of recognition. She was not alone after all, and with a great flood of relief, realised that here were possibilities that although a world apart from anything she had experienced, she could yet recognize for what they were.

Anest, for his part, besides being much relieved by her acceptance of him, was very much surprised by the feel of her; her smooth, cool, pale skin, which was becoming slightly flushed.

They were both inexperienced, and a little clumsy at first. But nature has a way of providing, guiding us in the dark.
