The Scarred One - Page 8/86

"Fine i'll get it to the mechanic today, happy now?"

"Of course you should, since you are the one who ruined it."

I shivered again and then it hit me. "Alex?"

"Hm?"

" I have been standing in the cold, under this raging snow wearing just a T-shirt and sweatpants with my bare feet while you are cladded in a thick fur hoodie jacket, fucking gloves on, skinny jeans and boots. Yet you didn't send me inside to change??? Do you want me to catch hypothermia?" She started laughing " I swear I didn't notice, I was fuming about my car." she said in between laughs. A wave of cold breeze hit me again and I shouted "Cold!!!" and I ran inside the house rubbing my arms with a laughing Alex trailing after me.

"What's the time?" I asked, heading to the kitchen to make myself a cup of hot coffe.

"10:58am, and just so you know, the repairs doesn't come cheap." she told me.

"Puh-lease," I scoffed, " is not like it's gonna wipe out my entire savings so no need to scare me unnecessarily."

"Hmm," she smirked, "don't say I didn't warn you." She sang, walking away from the kitchen.

"It's ginna cost you $22800 to fix it" said the mechanic. Hearing that, I went into coughing fits.

"Sorry sir," I apologised to the middle aged mechanic, " could you please repeat what you just said, cause I'm not sure if I heard you clearly. "

" I said it's ginna cost $22800 to fix the car. " He replied, and that, ladies and gentlemen, was what made me start to choke on my spit.

" 22800??" I gasped, " that's like all my savings!!!" I exclaimed. When Alex told me the repairs doesn't come cheap, I thought she was joking. Damn this car is gonna rob me of all the cash in my bank account, that's if it's even up to 22800.

" Uhh excuse me sir, but can you reduce the price? cause I don't think my money is up to that." I pleaded.

"Nah, that ain't happening. It ain't changing. That the amount it cost ya, take it elsewhere, and the same will be said t'ya." He replied.

I took out my phone and called Alex, " how much is in my account?" I asked when she answered the call because she is the one who actually remembers the amount of money my bank account holds.

" it's $26900.86, Dawn. You seriously need to keep tabs on things like this." she scolded through the phone.

" Why should I when I've got someone like you to do it, thanks babe." I ended the call.

Payed with an unhappy look gracing my face, I left the workshop and took the bus back to my house bus stop and walked the remaing few distance home. Got in and found Alex all cozy in the couch, watching some fashion show in the sitting room.
