After barely surviving a forest fire with burn scars on most of her left arm. part of her left side and leg which took the life of her husband and a year to heal physically and mentally Shelly was able to go back to work as a park ranger. She loved the forest and living high above the ground in a tree house slash park ranger station with her husband until a camper's campfire started a huge forest fire that was supposedly was contained until the direction of the wind changed and sent every one that was fighting the fire scurrying for their lives and caught her husband and her right in the middle of the fire and getting her to safety Jim was burned over seventy percent of his body and giving her the only fire fighting respirator mask to protect her lungs he died of smoke inhalation on the scene. That forest fire took the lives of ten forest firefighters plus thousands of acres of beautiful trees and park settings that would take for ages to recover. Shelly took out her certificates that she had in storage. She remember James telling her before they left for the forest to copy her certificates and take the copies with them to the forest of Colorado. When they had the memorial service she had friends who had key to the storage unit to get james certificates out to be displayed along with pictures of him by himself in his Park Ranger uniform and then a couple of both of them one with their uniforms on and one in street clothes
