The Spider's Fly - Page 11/49

It was a beautiful November morning, as Lindsey awoke to get ready for school. However this day was no ordinary Friday. Lindsey could barely contain her excitement, as this Friday, was the last day of school, before Thanksgiving vacation. Lindsey combed her hair in front of the mirror as her mother packed her lunch. Lindsey was all ready to go, right on time, maybe even a little early. Since today was the last day of school, before Thanksgiving vacation, it was also a half day. School would be out at 12:30 today. For this day, the students had the option of either leaving at noon, or staying until 12:30 to have lunch in the classroom, with their friends. Since it was a half day, and the last day to see their friends for the next couple of weeks, most students opted to stay. On regular school days, the lunch menu isn’t very appetizing, but for holiday season, it’s quite different. Each shortened day before holiday vacation, the school provides special meals with foods relative to the specific holiday. Since this was Thanksgiving, the school menu was your choice of either turkey or ham, along with all the fixings. Also for holidays, students were allowed to bring delicious snacks, such as cookies, pies, and cakes, to share with the rest of the class. The party was a huge success. Everyone had a great time. As the day was ending, Lindsey began to realize how much she was going to miss her friends. Before she knew it, the bell rang, and it was time to go. Everyone packed up their belongings, exchanged hugs and said their goodbyes.
