Some of them were saying, “I was talking to her and then she vanished. I have searched everywhere.”

Others said, “I was on the phone and suddenly there was no response on the other end. The connection is still active but he won’t respond to me. Did someone abduct him?”

“Hello, Police. My family has disappeared. I am the only one left,” I overheard a frantic neighbor say.

As I approached my house, I could see that the front door of the Anderson house was still open. I could see the dining room lights were still on so I decided to check on them, I pounded on the door and yelled for them. No answer. I pounded harder and yelled louder. Still no answer so I decided to go in. As I entered the house, the tv was still on and the pleasant aroma of home-cooked food made its way to the door.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and stuffing sat, untouched, at the dining room table. An opened Bible was beside a plate at the head of the table. The shrilling sound of the smoke alarm went off in the kitchen. Smoke poured out of the oven door as I quickly turned it off, grabbed some hot pads and pulled burnt biscuits from the oven. My frantic search through the house, for Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, yielded nothing.
