A couple of men the police chief knew joined the force as reserved non paying officers. They had their own cars that resemble Quit Meadow police car. They patroled on the weekends relieving the police chief to go home to his family for some rest and relaxation. The first week of September the house of Owen and Gladys Sherpherd was sat on fire in the middle of the night. Both of them had to be hospitalized for smoke inhalation and first degree burns
While they were hospitalized the community cleaned the upstairs part of the barbershop. The work was done by the time they were released from the hospital. The items they had up above the barber shop was put in storage in the backroom of the closed cafe. Their items wasn't in Storage very long when the cafe was burned down The next place to burn down was the boys home at the lake. The community decided to take turns patroling their quiet township.
The fires ended for a little while then the police recieved a call from one of the farms that they saw a straight line smoke coming from what he thought was the ghost town. When the fire department arrived at the scene it had been burning for awile and they decided to go ahead and let it burn down There were two buildings that was spared from burning. They were the corner hotel/ saloon and the old dressmaker's shop next to it. While they were at that scene the fellowship hall at church was sat on fire. The fire department rushed back to town and was abled to save half of the fellowship hall
