Quiet Meadows was a very pretty but extremely small town. at the city limits sign was a very pretty city park. the small city had one grocery store, a city hall, a fire satation, a little barbershop. one church, several closed up stores and about twenty house. By the city hall's parking lot was mailboxes. the city clerk told the Malachis they would have to pay a deposit for the water and it would be turned on by the maintance man then he would check for any breaks in the line.
As the Malachis was ending their business with the city clerk the fire chief came in. He told them since they were a quarter of a mile outside the town they would have pay a fire district fee of five hundred dollars a year and the insurance on their home was going to be very expensive also. He told them the price they were have to pay for the fire district fee would pay for another fire hydrant on the side road by their garage. He also said it would lower their insurance policy a good deal.
