The homicide detectives roped off the crime scene and informed the office personnel to stay away from the building untill their investigation was complete. The coronor was doing an autopsy on Dr. Watson but the evidence at the crime scene showed the blood splatter evidence plus the murder weapon.
The crime lab picked up a smeared finger print on the desk and bat. They swabbed the blood spots on Frenchie to run a match to make sure the blood was a match for Dr. Watson or either the murdered or maybe another victim. it would be a week or so before the result would be available. While waiting on the result the homicide detectives checked out Cassandra and Saddie's alibis.
Their alibis panned out. While talking to the nursing home staff they discovered the evening Saddie house was torched that she was at the nursing home visiting her mother. She fed her then helped with her bed bath. they relayed that information to the state's fire marshall's office.
The city pound called and was releasing Frenchie to Dr. Watson's family. Cassandra decided to take him in since the doctor's family lived out of town and didn't need any more pets. They had bonded at work. It couldn't be due to the fact that Frenchie knew what buttons of hers to push. He couldn't wait for her to time in and bring him a goodie. Sometimes it was a snack or then other times it was a toy
