CHAPTER ONE

“Shit,” Flora muttered as she got off the plane. She was used to hangovers especially in college but not like this one. Her head hurt so horribly and she couldn’t feel her legs. She’d fallen asleep on the plane and the attendant had to wake her up.

She dragged her backpack over her shoulder which sent more pain to her back. She had stayed out until two A.M laughing notoriously to everything about her life. The bright light hit her face as she walked through the airport. The airport was full as she trudged ahead. Her head was filled with nothing but bad thoughts. How was she going to survive the next few days? Would her mother expect her to talk to her after what she did to her?

She stepped onto the escalator leading down to the baggage carousels and the movement made her retch. She quickly fumbled in her bag for a tissue and held it to her mouth. She never noticed the watching crowd at the bottom as she descended the escalator because she had a tissue in her mouth and her eyes were closed.

When she stepped off, she nearly fell on top of a man with a paunch and not much hair.

“Pardon me.” She said in a voice as husky as her brain was feeling.
