“What’s the big occasion?” Angie asked, her lower lip quivered. Flora kissed Ricky on the lips and answered with a smile.

“Nothing special.” She said and then before Angie’s pique could swell into a full blown tantrum, she brushed a kiss on her forehead and sat down on the couch. She finally felt like she was winning.

“You can use my car if you want.” Betty said looking at Ricky.

“Great mom, since when did you fill up the gas tank? Apparently you always thought the flashing and the E stood for excellent keep driving.”

“I will apologize until you forgive me honey. I’m truly sorry.” Betty said.

For the first time, she felt liberated. Whatever it was that provoked Angie made her smile. Was it my dressing? She asked herself.
