He wanted to go back to bed, but he knew he wouldn’t sleep. He couldn’t stop thinking of Jerome, Angie and their awful plot.

A faint movement beyond the wall of Flora’s room caught his eye. Must be Flora. He wanted to know Flora more, he didn’t know her whole story. He just knew she’d lived a horrible life. Maybe a little fresh air would clear his head, refresh his mind. He pulled the door which led to the backyard. It was a clear night.

He stepped outside and quietly shut the door, the night was peaceful. He folded his arms across his chest as he crossed to the deck railing. He braced his legs wide and stared up at the light in Flora’s room.

He indulged himself and allowed his mind to dwell on her a little. He wondered about her, about what she might be going through.

True, it was none of his business, whatever had happened or was about to happen to her was out of his control.

Focusing on what was happening to her took his mind off Jerome. He noted movement again up there, the door opened. Out came the one and only Flora McAllister. Damn, she was drop dead gorgeous, even from a hundred strides away. She looked hot in her baggy pink shirt. Her long blonde hair shone in the moonlight and her bare legs gleamed.
