“C’mon she will hear you.” Flora warned as Miranda joined them.

“Our rooms are right back here.” Miranda explained. They both followed Miranda through the doorway to a short hallway.

“We really appreciate the tour but we have to go.” Jules said. They both rushed to the door but peeped first to see if the white van had left.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Later that evening, Flora came home carrying a bag of groceries. The house was quiet like there was no one around. She began unloading the food into the refrigerator. I wonder if there’s ice, she thought absently as she opened the freezer. Inside was a package of lasagna completely frozen over and a can of coffee.

She knew the coffee belonged to her mother. Ugh, she thought. How long has it been here? She wiped the frost off to see the date on the package. It was not past the sell by date. She debated throwing the package away then smiled as she put it back.

Can’t believe no one noticed there was no ice. She said to herself. She filled the ice cube trays with water and put them in the freezer.

The fridge was half full when she was done unloading. The food was enough to last them at least two days. She had bought six pack cans of beer and sparkling cider.
