Broken Angel - Page 16/32

I go back downstairs after a shower, and the air is filled with different kinds of foods. Just like meatloaf, pasta, and vegetables. “Ummm, Grandma, what are you making?” I ask. “You’ll see. It is your favorite.” She says showing me out of the kitchen.

That is when I remember that I need to call Dwayne back. So I head up to my room, traveling through what seems to be a time portal. Because it is taking forever to get there. I didn’t realize until now how many stairs this house had.

I pull my phone out of my bag and realize that it is three minutes away from midnight. So as fast as I can I call him.

“Hello?” He asks. “Hey, I told you I would call. I’m sorry I called so late, I hope you don’t get into any trouble.” I say. “No, you are fine.” He says. He sounds like he has been asleep. “Hey if you were asleep, I talk to you tomorrow at school.” I offer. “No, I was doing homework, so anything that could make that go away is worth it.” He says with a chuckle.

“Have you thought about it?” He asks. “Think about what?” I aks. Not knowing what he is talking about at all. “The dance. I asked you to go with me.” He Uumu clarifies for me. “Um, yeah, I guess. When is it?” I ask. “Saturday.” He says. “Ok, I will um, I don’t know, what color are you wearing?” I ask. “I was hoping you would choose. I am paying for the tickets.” He says. “But the theme is Black and White.”
