CHAPTER-FIVE: QUONDAM LOVER-SHYAMALA

“Crabbed age and youth cannot live together, youth is full of pleasure; age is full of care.” William Shakespeare.

Haplessly Banu could not enjoy the pleasures of youth because of her family situation. When her mother gave birth to her, she died during her parturition and his father met with an accident and died on the spot. So her paternal uncle took care of her but her aunt inflicted her perdition from her childhood. Sympathized on seeing her plight and adversity which joined together, Ramana comforted her and helped her financially secretly. (I leave it to the readers to imagine how Banu might have been inflicted in the hands of cruel lady)

On a fateful day, Banu, unable to endure the insulting words which‘re poisonous arrows darted from her aunt, decided to commit suicide and lurked at the dusk. Her aunt, being a shrew, was notorious throughout the village and Ramana came to know the bickering and guessed what Banu would do next. As per his guess, she lurked towards the seashore where he caught her before drowning into the sea.

“Why did you save my life? I am born to suffer throughout my life. I feel solace by death but you rescued me to make me suffer in the hands of cruel lady again. Again I have to delve into hell….” Banu sobbed and wept bitterly.
