"Perhaps she might favor us with a reading? It would be the most wonderful thing!" She was giddy. "She might, dear. But let's not trouble her about it. "

Saying goodnight to his daughter, Tom sighed. She was such a wonderful young girl. How would he ever bring her up a proper lady without the teachings of her mother? He was of no good influence to her, and the poor unfortunate thing had certainly inherited his character. Perhaps he would send her to the countryside for a while, to live with his aunt. He knew she would be safe there, and brought up a fine lady. Nevertheless, in the present situation he was to care for her, and would do so to the best of his abilities.

Tom tried to rest that evening, but sleep would not come. There were too many thoughts swirling about in his mind regarding Jane Austen.

The following morning, Jane awoke to find herself in London at last. She looked out of the window to find Henry's gorgeous estate before her. She was so happy for her dear brother that he had come upon such fortune. She stepped from the confines of the small coach, and stretched a bit before waking her sister.

"Cassandra, we have arrived in London. Do wake up. " The large city sprawled out before her was far more magical than she had remembered. While she did not enjoy the city life, she could surely see why others had found it so inviting. The cobblestone streets were lined with the most glorious looking homes and shops. She wondered if there were a library she might visit during her stay. "Oh my, how lovely!" she heard the voice of her sister behind her. "Henry is a lucky fellow indeed to live in such a place." She smiled. Jane turned to see her brother approaching her, arms outstretched. "My dear sisters! At last you have arrived. I trust that your trip was a fine one. Do come in for some tea. Martha will be joining us momentarily." Jane wondered what had become of her brother's wife, for it had been years since they had last seen each other. She found it to be a bit sad, for she and Martha had been very close once. As they sat, Henry began to question about Hampshire, and stated what a marvelous time he had had during his visit. Just then Martha entered the room slowly, appearing to be a bit more frail than Jane had imagined. Henry quickly rose from his seat to help his wife find her own. Martha spoke breathlessly. "Hello Jane, Cassandra. What a profound pleasure it is to see you both again." She tried a smile. "Martha, it is indeed encouraging to see you walking about so. And what of your health dear? I do hope it's improved some."
