Elven Roses - Page 104/201

"Well, you do it so well, little brother," Mericlou said with a giggle. "Besides, you know that diving into the Orb Network always gives me a headache."

"Sure it does," Sedriil drawled out. "Anyway, Pehr el tulyr is not just an archaic elven phrase, but it is a different kind of elfish language entirely."

"It is?" Mericlou asked, her interest fully peaked.

"Yes. It's an extremely ancient form of elven, one that hasn't been spoken in well over five hundred thousand years. The only place where it's still used is in the temples in Gheed. Their holy books, the oldest in the world, are still written in the language. Aside from that, there are only a few ancient texts here and there that have it."

"Anything else?"

"Nothing terribly significant. It's common knowledge that elven words have subtle meanings to them. Tulyr, which means 'flower' in common, has more intimate, romantic connotations than the root word, alyr. With that fact in mind, it is a beautiful name he has given you, sister. It expresses a very intimate and special love."

"Well, he is someone special, Sedriil," Mericlou said, blushing. "Someone very special indeed."

>I'm sorry to contact you like this, Sedriil.

>How do you know my real name? Who are you?

>Relax, my good metal man. It's Tescadji!

>Are you now? What's the password?

>What are you talking about? You didn't say anything about a bloody password!

>Okay. I know it's you. >You know, you had me scared for a minute there.

>Sorry. I had to make sure. So why have you contacted me?

> We had a report that the folks in Skainhart had put up a warding spell to kick your sister out. We're pretty sure it's not our little tattletale who caused it, as your sister seems to be frequenting the town with the elf. But this doesn't make the situation any better. Word of mouth will only spread faster now.

>Well, that's not something we can help.

>Au contraire, Sedriil. Fire control has been quite active. Most of our operatives have already confused their memories. But it looks like our tattletale's still on the loose. He or she's been quiet as of late, but the rumors still spread. >Yes. I heard them in the marketplace the other day.

>Stay strong. Have you gotten any bites on your end?
