"Not really, Krako," Aldrec replied. "It's just that I've had a … very different encounter today."

Different, you say? Do tell us.

"There's not much to say, Gabelle," Aldrec said, smiling endearingly at his friend who lay half-asleep upon his shoulder. "I just chanced to help out an android girl. Her purse was stolen; I got it back for her ... well, the contents, at least." He grinned at the memory.

A symphony of chimes flowed around him.

This android … is she beautiful?

Aldrec nodded. "Yes, Vinta. Very beautiful."

Then pursue her.

"It's too early for that, Krako!" Aldrec said. "I barely know her. We only talked in the garden today, and not for very long."

Pursue her.

"You too, Vinta?"

Pursue her.

"Okay, friends," Aldrec said, standing upright. We'll compromise here. I'll think about it."

Are you afraid?

"Of course not!" Aldrec said, indignant. "I'm just cautious, Krako. It never hurts to be that way."

Your age makes you too cautious.

"You may be right, Gabelle." Aldrec sighed in acquiescence. "It probably does. But it's a part of who I am. And so far, it has done me good."

That it has.

"I'm going to take this one step at a time," Aldrec said. "In all this time, if it's finally happened, then good. But if not, then my age has instilled patience as well as caution."

We agree to this.

Aldrec laughed, bemused at this consensus of three most unlikely friends. "I'm so glad to have your approval, Krako."
