The Anthrax Scare - Page 24/46

I walked into holding room, which was divided into two rooms. The interrogation room could be viewed directly through the one way mirror. There were two computers that were set up to the cameras in the interrogation room. Amy was setting everything up and Keith was in the other room, talking to the medical interrogator Travis O'Connor.

James entered the room. "Here's the file, from the picture Carrie sent us, we found him on a watch list."

I hit the intercom button. "Keith, could you come in here?"

Keith pushed the security code, unlocked the door and looked at the file that James handed to him.

"He'll be here in five minutes. I'm going to update DOD and the President on the current situation," James said.

I nodded and he walked out.

Keith handed me the file. I read it over: Riley Cyrus, 46, militia man. Involved in various bio terrorist activities, but unable to convict due to lack of evidence. Lives in Georgia with wife, Sandra Riley and seven kids. There were pictures of him with Grey from 1998. Less than 3 years ago. Cyrus was a short, rounded man, with steel blue eyes, and greasy black hair. He was dressed in a pinstripe suit and looked more like a mob gangster from the forties than a terrorist.

"So, how are you going to handle this?"

"First Travis is going to hook up him and deprive him of his senses for 15-20 minutes. Then I'll question him, play the family card, and then tell him I know what he's up too. Then if I have to I'll get a little rough and threaten medical interrogation."

"Good. I'll be here watching, I'll keep you up to date on any changes."

"Fine." I could tell he was being professional because Amy was still in the room.

She grinned as she got up. "All set." She winked at me as she walked out the door.

Keith bit his lip as he scratched the side of his face. "I really hate doing interrogations. I just hope this guy gives in before we have to go further than just talking." He signed.

"I hate doing them too. But I always tell myself that what we do during the course of the day saves innocent lives."

"Very true, I tell myself that too."

I looked up as the other door was opened and Hayden led Cyrus in, sat him down at the table and cuffed him to it, then walked out.

I squeezed Keith's hand; he smiled and took the file. He picked up the ear piece off the desk and placed it in his ear. As he stepped into the room I sat down at the desk.
