The Anthrax Scare - Page 31/46

Keith quickly grabbed his arm and he let go. "She's injured, can't you see that?" He said angrily.

"I do now. Geez, I'm sorry. What happened?"

I decided to refuse to answer any more of his questions. "Nothing. Just go."

"Wait, who's this dude?"

"I'm Keith, I work with Amanda."

"Are you the guy? Huh?" Bryan looked at me then at Keith who stared him down. "Is he the reason you won't take me back?"

James came out of his office; he quickly took the stairs two at a time and then came over. "Is there a problem here?"

"No, he was just leaving, weren't you?" I glared at Bryan.

"This is my girlfriend and this idiot stole her from me. And-"

Enough of this crap. Interoffice dating wasn't against the rules, but it wouldn't look good on Keith's or my part if James found out that on his first day we had already agreed to going on a first date. Things had to be serious before we informed James. Even though things were moving fast and quickly becoming serious, I didn't want to tell James just yet. I crossed my arms more than ready to give Bryan a piece of my mind.

"EX-girlfriend! And just because Keith pulled you off me is no reason to accuse of him of anything. He's only worked here for a day, James, you know that." I looked at James, who was rubbing his knee. He shouldn't have run down those steps so fast, damn Bryan. "Bryan won't leave and I plan on getting a restraining order since he hasn't got the point that I want nothing to do with him!"

"After all I've done for you, this is how it ends? You ungrateful bitch!" He raised his hand as if he was going to slap me, before I could react Keith grabbed his arm and punched Bryan in the nose, and blood gushed out. Bryan lunged at Keith, who quickly dodged him. James yelled for security. Two guards ran over and restrained Bryan.

James pointed his finger at Bryan. "If you ever come near here or near these two again I will have you arrested." He nodded to the guards. "Get him out of here!"

"Amanda!" Bryan pleaded, but I turned my back. The guards escorted him out.

Keith rubbed his hand. "James, I'm sorry. He had no right and he's been harassing her all day."

"He has been calling me nonstop. Thank you, Keith." I hoped the look I was giving him said what I couldn't. It had meant a lot that he stood up for me and risked getting in trouble. He had scared Bryan and I hoped that he would never bother me again.
