The Anthrax Scare - Page 44/46

I heard Keith repeat the order. "Okay, now we have breakfast. And we can check McDonalds off the list. I figured I'd be sleeping for a while so I should eat first."

"Good idea. So, I'm going to leave right now. Before he comes back to his car."

"I live at the Gibson Plaza Apartments, take 7th St straight up, if you pass the Kennedy Rec Center you've gone to far."

I pulled out and headed up 7th St. "Got it. Keith . . . I don't know what to say except thanks."

"Sweetheart, you don't have to thank me, I'm more than happy to have you stay with me. I should get there at the same time, as you do, its apartment 402 in case I don't." I head him hand over the change and take the order.

"See you there." I hung up and drove up 7th St. I easily found the apartments. I saw a gray truck pull in the driveway and knew it was probably Keith so I followed him in. I parked my car in a visitor's space, grabbed my purse and phone then got out of the car. I walked over to Keith who sat the McDonalds bag on the hood.

"You okay?"

I shook my head, fighting back tears and exhaustion. "No, I don't know what I'm gonna do, I can't even go home without him being there. I was really worried and a little scared until you called."

He hugged me. "Well, I'm here for you. And we'll handle this but first let's get some rest."

I nodded, he grabbed the bag, and he put his hand in mine as we walked to the apartment. We went up the steps and he pulled the keys out of his pocket then unlocked the door.

We stepped inside. "Welcome to my home, this is the living room, the dining room slash kitchen is over there," Keith pointed. "Down the hallway to the left are my bedroom, and a study. To the right is the bathroom."

I looked around there was a blue sofa along with a coffee table, in the center of the living room. Against the back wall was a flat screen TV and stereo. Two bookshelves were against the other two walls. There was a sliding door off to the side that I guessed led out to the balcony. There were modern art pictures around the room; it fit my style; classy and modern. The walls were an off-white color and the carpet was a light tan color. I turned to the kitchen and saw that it was state of the art with a nice fridge, stove and other appliances I didn't know how to use. There was an oak table off to the side with two chairs. Beside the table was a large dog bed.
