Shades of Deception - Page 19/118

His staff was completely in the dark about him and Precious. He never told anyone that the woman who lived in the Victorian house was his fiancée.

Those who were with him from the start could not believe that another woman hoodwinked him again. They thought he had learned his lesson from that first money ravenous woman.

The company was now in chaos. The employees were in limbo, and no one knew where Enoff was. Not even his mother and stepfather knew the whereabouts of their son. They reported him missing but heard nothing from the police. It was apparent that he was never coming back, and eventually, the business collapsed.

Many concluded that he lost his mind and became a transient. The gossip went on for months and was the lead topic at every hair salon, barbershop, and social event. Tales would surface that he was collecting bottles, cans, and newspapers. There was even talk that he had joined the circus.

People had a tendency to stretch the truth or downright lie to outshine other gossipers.

A year had gone by, and it was now winter. Most people were hibernating due to the bitter cold and continuous bouts of heavy snow.

Enoff's house went into foreclosure, and the Victorian house was still empty. The red curtains were still hanging in the windows; some individuals would still look to see if there was any activity going on in that house.

The only people who missed Precious were the men. Her antics, which they would never forget, brought life and excitement to their repetitive lives.

The local newspapers would write stories on various people and events.

There was a column in one of the society papers called What Ever Happened To...?

Occasionally, editorials would cover the whereabouts of Enoff, Precious, the Awas, and Mr. Chaba.

Little did anyone know that one of these individuals was living the good life in Europe?

With her red curtains dangling in the windows, Precious was now living in a villa on the Island of Capri and was seeing a married man whom she met on an Internet dating site. He was the C.E.O. of an international trading company, traveled eight months out of the year and would spend a lot of his free time with her.

When it came to buying jewelry, he outdid Enoff and purchased a one hundred and fifty thousand dollar Brazilian emerald necklace for her. It is safe to say, this man will end up losing more than the shirt off his back if he has not already.

As to what happened to the rest of the players: Mr. Chaba a.k.a. Mr. Trick disappeared, and Enoff and the Awas were still missing.
