The Senator's Vote - Page 20/36

He held the back of my head and kissed my forehead. "Just breathe, baby, I'm here. I'm here."

His voice was soothing and I focused on him as I regained my composure. A medic ran up to us and then kneeled down. He was tall and lean with sandy brown hair, a goatee, and dark brown eyes.

I held out my hand, he undid the handkerchief and examined it. "Not too bad, a clean cut. I can fix ya right up."

Keith held me, occasionally kissing my face as the medic applied a local and put sutures over the wound. He wrapped up my hand with bandages and smiled. "There ya go." The medic handed me a water bottle and a painkiller, which I swallowed.

"Thank you," I smiled weakly. He nodded and got up to go help out another medic.

I turned and threw my arms around Keith who hugged me. "You okay?" He whispered.

I nodded, keeping myself together, there was still work to be done and whoever was responsible for this still had to be found. I could fall apart later when it was just us. "Yeah. I am. Now."

He hugged me tightly and whispered that he loved me. I whispered it back and held onto him tightly.

"Keith, we need you!" Pete yelled.

He pulled away slowly and then helped me up. Landow was now conscious. He glared at me and I could've smacked him but I settled with glaring back. Keith walked over to Pete and I followed him.

"James said do whatever you got to do to get this guy to tell us who he's working for. Make him think you'll go to extreme lengths to get him to talk. We need to know, the Senator could still be in danger."

Keith nodded and walked back over to Landow who was being examined by a medic. I crossed my arms and stood beside Keith. "Don't take the knife out." The medic moved out of the way as Keith knelt down in front of Landow. "That knife is painful huh? Want to make this easy or hard?"

Landow said nothing.

"All I want to know is who you are working for. Then you can receive medical attention."

"I'm not telling you anything."

Keith examined the wound and then stared at Landow. "All right the hard way then." He paused. "This knife is near an artery. If I move it down or jam it in further you're going to be in serious pain. You could bleed out in a matter of minutes."
