He had read my thoughts again. "I was going to tell you the same thing; even if we're not pregnant I don't want us to put our lives at risk anymore. I found out today how much there is to lose and it's not worth it. So, count me in, we can go to Baltimore or anywhere you want."

"I don't care where we go, as long as we are together." He paused. "Do you think maybe we could do the test here?"

That would be a good idea, plus if we were then we'd be happy and maybe we both could put this bad day behind us. "Let's get the nurse and find out." I carefully got up and hit the call button.

A middle aged heavyset woman, with short wavy red hair and sea green eyes walked in. She was wearing green scrubs with a white lab coat, and a stethoscope was around her neck "Yes?"

"Do you have any pregnancy tests on hand? My wife and I were supposed to find out today, and we'd really like to know."

"I'll check. If not I'll send someone down to get one from the pharmacy." The nurse checked Keith's vitals and temperature and wrote them down on a chart by the bed.

"Thanks," I smiled at the nurse and she smiled back.

She came back with an EPT. I took the test and went over to Keith. "I'm going to go take this and I'll be right back." I stroked his hair and headed to the bathroom. I turned around. "Do you need to use the restroom?"

He chuckled. "I hadn't even thought about it, but yeah. Could you page the nurse?"

"Why? I'm here." I walked over to him. "We've got to get you some food too."

"You sure? This isn't going to be easy." He bit his lip.

"I want to take care of you . . . you've taken of me before . . . I'm here for you." I gazed at him and he smiled.

"Okay, but I have to tell you I'm a picky patient," he said.

I laughed. "Mmm . . . I'll just have to make sure to keep you happy."

"So far so good. But a kiss might help."

I kissed him tenderly. I then helped him lift his hand out of the sling. I pulled back the covers, and I laughed out loud when I saw that he was wearing his lucky happy face boxers.
