The Hostage - Page 28/28

Keith was laying in front of me, his eyes pleaded for help but I couldn't move. A man in a ski mask grabbed him and pointed a gun at his head. "NO!" I screamed.

"Sweetheart, wake up, you're having a bad dream," Keith whispered as he shook me gently. I opened my eyes and sighed with relief when I saw him. I was shaking as I put my arm around his neck and clung to him. He whispered that he loved me and that he was here for me as he ran his fingers through my hair and then rubbed my back.

"I'm here, sweetheart. I'm here."

A single tear ran down my cheek. "It seemed so real. I thought I'd lost you all over again."

"You didn't." He wiped away the tear and kissed me softly.

I hugged him close and gazed into his eyes. "What would I ever do without you, huh?"

He gazed back at me. "I don't know. But I do know I'd be lost without you, and I wouldn't know how to go on."

"Me too. I thank God that it turned out all right. I almost lost you without being able to do anything about it."

"I could've lost you too. But we got through another horrible day." He took my hand in his. "You mean everything to me, and I promise I am going to do whatever I have to make sure nothing like this happens again, you, me, and the baby will be safe."

"I know you'll take of us. You always keep me safe. I just know we'll be okay, we are meant to be and I need you more than anything, I love you."

"I love you too."

No more words were needed and we fell asleep wrapped in each other's arms.
