"And besides, I'm giving up Joy so no one can say I've never sacrificed anything." She said out loud.
It was all her fault. Damn it! She should have known that Sindi was scared. Bonisile had tried to tell her on Sunday but she had been distracted. Busy thinking about Tebogo and forgetting about her duties.
Mandisa Sped through the streets as fast as she dared without attracting police attention. She hoped she wasn't too late. If Sindi had found a way to leave Jo'burg then all was lost. What she was planning was criminal and could ensure that she lost Joy forever. Oh why, why hadn't she seen this coming? She had thought they all understood that they had a strong case. Why didn't they believe her? She would die before she let anything bad happen to them.
Mandisa took her eyes off the road for a second and looked at a worried Khanyi.
"How long has she been planning this?"
Khanyi shrugged. "I don't know but I wouldn't say she has been planning it, I think she just snapped today when she realized that the court case is in just two days."
"Damn it!!" Mandisa cursed and hit the brakes as the traffic lights conspired against her.
"She can't just leave town like that. Where will she go, where would she stay and for god sake what would she do for money."
Khanyisile bit down hard on her lower lip. "I'm sorry. I tried to talk her out of it but she wouldn't listen." Tears filled Khanyi's eyes and Mandisa cursed.
"It's not your fault, Khanyi. It's mine." And she could kick herself for it. The lights turned green and she accelerated.
"Are you certain that there is no other way she could leave the house?"
Khanyi shook her head. "I took both our keys. I didn't know what else to do." Khanyisile explained. "I tried calling you but you didn't answer your phone…"
"I forgot it at home." Mandisa cut it.
"I called Bonnie and she told me she was in the studio and couldn't get away. So I locked Sindi inside the house and came looking for you."
Mandisa stopped the car outside Sindi's house and faced her sister. Khanyisile was a genius. The plan was barbaric but it certainly worked. Mandisa threw her arms around her sister and hugged her.
"You are just what a person needs in a crisis." Mandisa said and Khanyi beamed proudly. They quickly got out of the car and Khanyi ran forward to unlock the door. Immediately Sindi jumped at her and reached for her neck. Mandisa ran as fast as she could. Sindi was screaming and threatening Khanyi who was continuously saying she was sorry. Mandisa screamed for Sindi to let Khanyi go. She was vaguely aware of Joy crying somewhere in the house. Sindi and Khanyi fell on the grass and rolled together. Khanyi was frightened but she wasn't allowing Sindi to strangle her, she fought back. Their screams were murderous. Some curious neighbors came to see what was going on. Mandisa couldn't get between the sisters without getting dragged down and into the fight. So ran into the house instead. Joy was sitting on a sofa crying, his face was red and his voice hoarse, indicating he had been crying for long and hard. Mandisa wondered briefly if Sindi had gone mad. The answer was outside. Mandisa ignored Joy and ran to the kitchen. She got a big bowl and filled it with water. Careful not to spill the water all over herself she ran outside and baptized her sisters. They both screamed in total shock and finally separated. Mandisa didn't give them a chance to react. She was so furious she wanted to kill Sindi.
