Man Up - Page 102/268

"What about your shop?" Jayden said with irritation in his voice as he tried to send her a subliminal message to leave.

"No worries, Lacy can handle things for a while." She said with an easy smile and soft voice. She sounded oblivious to knowing Jayden's true feelings about her and he found that even more annoying than her smiles. She set the first bag down and then dropping to her knees, gently placing the upright bag down sideways onto the drop cloth. She began taking out the cups, paper plates, utensils, drinks and then surprised everyone.

"What's that?" Nita asked curious about the other bag.

"Well since Jayden is opening up his shop, I baked him a grand opening cake." No one was more surprised or touched than Jayden. He couldn't stop the incredulous look that instantly appeared on his face. However he wasn't willing to let her know how happy he was about her thoughtfulness, so he quickly swallowed the easy grin that wanted to shine on his face.

"Who asked you to?" Jayden asked harshly while forcing a frown on his face. He hated the fact that she was so thoughtful. The woman irked him; she reminded him of someone, but at the moment it escaped him who that person was. He didn't want to think or feel anything positive about Mia Cleaves. She was definitely not only an accident waiting to happen; but she was even more so a trap- and he was not about to let her trap him for shit.

"Jayden!" Nita scolded him with the tone of her voice. "You've got a funny way of saying thank you. Girl don't mind him… You know how brothers are; no home training." She said giving Jayden another glare. He glared back, but then his conscience kicked in and he couldn't hold eye contact with her anymore.

"Hope you didn't mind me calling it Jayden's Spot… I didn't know the name." She said as if his insult hadn't registered with her. What the hell was wrong with this female, he couldn't help wondering. Then he reprimanded himself for being even more curious about her. The female was like a vicious cycle; he couldn't stop thinking about her. The more he told himself not to think and wonder about her the more he thought and wondered about her. That was not good and he had to put a stop to it.

"Girl this is more than you should have done… Especially for some ungrateful and unappreciative somebody who shall remain nameless…" Nita signified still glaring in Jayden's direction. He turned his head away looking up as if he was reading something. Nita and Mia smiled at each other. They knew that he was embarrassed and really happy at the same time.
