Man Up - Page 150/268

"Have you seen my wife and kids?" He asked the strangers.

"I'm sorry who are they and what do they look like?" The young lady asked.

"She's about your height with long hair and she would have been walking with two small children around six and three years old; a boy and a girl." He explained frantically.

"No I'm sorry, we haven't seen anyone like that."

"Thanks…" He replied as he continued on his way and rounded a corner and another one and again one more.

The streets were noisy with traffic and people moving about. They were confusing to him. It was getting dark and Jacob didn't recognize the area any more nor could he remember why he was here or what time or day it was.

"Louise… Louise… Louise…" He cried out over and over again. Finally after not knowing where he was or why he was there and how to get back to where he had been he settled down and sat on the curb of the street and began crying.

The police officer drove back around the block and then parked his car across the street. He had been called to check out a suspicious black man sitting on the curb taking off his clothes. However, now that he had arrived at the scene, that suspicious man looked familiar to him. In fact he was sure he had voted for the man in last year's election.

"Mr. Ellis? Alderman Ellis?" He cautiously asked as he stooped down to the man's side. Jacob looked at him vacantly as if he could not understand the language. Then he said, "You know me right?"

"I'm not sure… Do you have any identification on you?" Jacob searched in his pockets, but they were empty.

"Why don't we go down to the station and call your family." The officer said.

"You know where my family is?" Jacob asked hopeful.

"No but I'm sure we'll be able to locate them" the officer explained as he helped Jacob up and walked him back to his squad car putting him inside the backseat.

"Do you remember the first of the three basic tones?" Mia asked as she was beginning lesson number two with him. Jayden sat at the drum set all strapped up and ready to learn.

"Bass… or…" He quickly tapped his hands as she had demonstrated for him previously producing the Ba sound from the drums.
