"I'm mad… I'm mad because you were right and I was wrong."
"Well thanks… I think." Nita responded while taking a bite out of one of her pizza slices.
"No, I mean you're right that I was right not to become just another conquest to Jayden. If I had, by this time I wouldn't even be a memory in his mind. I'm mad at myself for liking him and his indifference to me."
"He's not indifferent to you." Nita stated.
"Yea right…" Mia said while rolling her eyes and nibbling at her pizza.
"Seriously Mia he's not… but he's not going to notice you just because you want him to either"
"So what now?" Mia asked frustrated about her predicament.
"Look, Jayden just doesn't know where you fit into his life and how to be with you or what kind of expectations he should be having of you and himself. The word 'relationship' is a taboo word for him. He thinks of it as an accident waiting to happen." Nita couldn't help but rolling her eyes repeating the words that Avery had told her time and time again about Jayden's views on women and relationships.
"Where do you get this stuff? I mean how do you come up with this?" Mia was truly curious as to how her friend's mind worked. She had always admired Nita for being able to see things from not only a deeper but also a much broader perspective. Nita was the most level-headed woman she had ever met.
"You've got to think that Jayden has been treating women like his own disposable sex toys. Personally I think the man owns stock in a condom factory somewhere; every pack of condoms he buys is like putting two dollars back into his own pocket."
"Nita…" Mia said laughing while trying not to choke or spit out her recently sips of soda.
"Oops sorry… But it's the truth. Then enters you; he asks for the play and you deny him access. And it's not that you're the first to tell him no. I'm sure there are plenty of women out there that have told him no…"
"But?" Mia asked hanging desperately onto Nita's well-thought out perspective.
"But you're the first woman who has told him no that he has to keep bumping into again and again and again. The other women, the moment they turn him down they fade back into a faceless and nameless sea of women that he probably will never run into again in his lifetime. That delivery girl he just picked up; trust me she's already been thrown back into the sea of faceless and nameless women." Mia felt a little lighter and encouraged by her friend's words. She took more bites of her pizza as she listened intently.
