Candee was at the sink, when Marie padded into the kitchen, she turned, and “good morning sweetheart" and she dried her hands, and hugged her daughter close. "Why don't you go into the breakfast room, daddy is there and mommy will bring your cereal to you, ok?“ Okay mommy."
Candee heard Taffy's woof as Marie entered the breakfast room; the dog had been in there with Starke, mooching bits of bacon she suspected. They had their breakfast, then Marie announced, very grown-up I'm going now to pick out what I will wear today. Candee winked to her husband, stood and said, "I'll come along honey and tend to your little brother."
Starke placed a call to his mother to let her know what they decided to do today, he didn't want her to worry if she phoned the house, and got no answer, she would call the cabin, but no need to worry her for a minute.
They arrived at the cabin around 1 OAM and as Starke drove up to the cabin, he immediately noticed a screen out of a side window and the window forced open, so he told his family, to stay in the car, keep the doors locked he reached over and retrieved his service revolver, which he had locked in the glove box.
He got out and stealthily and quietly went up on the porch, he unlocked the door and burst in with his gun raised, he fanned the great room area with his eyes seeing no one, he checked all other rooms and up in the loft.
Whoever had broken in was long gone, however the place was in complete disarray, it appeared as though nothing was stolen but the place was thoroughly searched, they were looking for something? Starke and Candee kept nothing of great value at the cabin, just the necessities for weekends or vacations spent there.
He immediately went to the phone called Cameron, told him what he suspected had happened, and Cameron said he'd get right on it, send some of his team, and dust for fingerprints etc. he also said, he'd have the guys set things to right before they left. Thanks bro knew I could count on you, I'm going to go tell my family now we've got a change of plans, you can reach me on my cell phone, if you need to, "later Cam," and he hung up.
When he went back outside he took a quick look around, noticed the deer had come out from the woods, and knew no one was around any longer. so he went back to the car, he explained to his wife in brief terms what had happened not to scare Marie, and he said, I will go scatter the treats for the deer, come back, mommy can go give carrots to Caramel, then Marie you can throw some sunflower seeds for the squirrels, then we're off to plan 8, "what is that 8 daddy" asked Marie. How does a day on the boat with a picnic on the island sound, she dapped her little hands, "that sounds fun", she giggled.
