Cameron heard from the guys in the field, they saw the guy leave the house with Jamie in a carrier, he probably stole somewhere. He described the pick-up truck he got into; the baby appeared to be fine.
Cam gave him instructions to wait till the deal went down and they had Jamie, this guy would head back to his shack and to get him there. Starke was told to come alone and so Cam stayed down in his seat so it appeared he was alone. He made the drop and sped off to get Jamie, he was there the carrier was sitting on a picnic table, and he was fine, when he saw his daddy, he started saying da, da, there was a white butterfly sitting on the table beside him; it flew away as Starke approached. Starke was so relieved he started to tremble from head to toe, and he fell to the seat at the table in order get himself together for a few minutes, and he kissed his son, saying "da, da is here now." Cameron searched the area, but found nothing or no one.
They headed back to the house then, and Cam got a call on the way, Starke saw him shaking his head, and figured it went bad. When he closed his cell phone, he told Starke, "they got your money back, but unfortunately this guy had a gun and started firing on the guys, they shot back and he is dead." In the house was his girlfriend and the one who looked after Jamie, they found diapers, and formula and a bottle. She was taken in for questioning and as an accomplice. Starke just nodded, which he admitted to himself was a relieved nod, his family would have no more trouble from this guy.
Being police officers this would be kept and very low key in the press, and he did not think he would need to tell his mother about it. The whole ordeal went down very fast and efficient, he was thankful for that. When they got to the house Starke carried his son into the house, Cameron right behind him, Julie smiled a huge smile, as he passed her, he carried Jamie up to the master bedroom, and sat him on the bed next to Candee, then he gently woke her. She cried many tears now but they were tears of absolute joy, as she hugged her baby to her, the more he giggled the more she cried.
Marie came in then from her own room, and flopped down on the other side of her mommy, she said, "see mommy I told you Jamie would be okay, Candee said, "you did?" "yes, I ask my angel to watch over Jamie and I just know she did," I'm sure you're right my sweet girl" and Candee hugged her close too.
