Caitlin rubbed her eyes, which made them hurt more. "Me neither." She exhaled and sat straight, but it only made her feel worse. "Do you ever wonder if the choices you make will lead to good things? Wouldn't it be nice to have an eraser for life?"

"You need to stop worrying about the past. Nothing back there that can help you. You focus on today and tomorrow. Do you hear me, young lady?"

She patted Mrs. Carrington's hand. "Loud and clear. I'm sorry for the melodrama. It's time I go home and sleep."

Once home, though, Caitlin paced throughout the house, wondering if these were signs telling her to sell the ranch and go back to Richmond. At least there she had a good job, one that did not require hard, physical labor and her best friend, Jen, lived there. "Most of all, it gets me away from this confusion and the only man I have ever loved."
