Whisper In The Wind - Page 55/137

"What?"

"You don't understand do you? I never wanted to control you, sweetie. I meant to tell you, but someone beat me to the punch, and for that I am sorry. You are intelligent and highly capable of handling all aspects of this ranch. Question is, do you believe it?"

The warmth and sincerity in his voice flowed through her veins and settled in the deepest part of her heart, where she knew it would forever stay. "I appreciate that, but for now will you hold on to it?"

"Sure, but I need to know why?"

She explained everything, even Scott kissing her, to which Garrett took a deep breath and balled his hands into fists. They were now a couple and they needed no secrets between them, especially when Scott could easily use it against them. The inability to understand his sudden mood changes scared her more than not knowing her opponent. With Garrett beside her, she knew worries would be few, because he would stand with her and help fight any battles.

He took her face in his hands and stared deep into her eyes. His touch evoked new feelings and unleashed raw emotions. He held her heart with a loving gaze and a soft, gentle touch and it left her mesmerized. When his lips touched hers, those emotions exploded into a deep abiding love that traveled throughout her body and connected them in a way she had never experienced with anyone else.

When he pulled away, his grin spoke many words and Caitlin could not help but smile back. "It's late and you need rest," he said. "I'll stop by tomorrow and see you." She walked him to his truck and waved until the headlights shone on the main road. Never had she been more grateful for his interference. "Again, how did he know? Perhaps we really do have a connection deeper than I imagined." With a smile as wide as the ranch and as bright as the sun, Caitlin waltzed inside and right up to bed to dream about the only man she ever loved.
