Dance With the Wind - Page 56/108

"Ahem."

"Hello, Gray Cloud," she said never looking at him.Though I know he can tell me, he won't. "Are you sure you are not Indian?" he asked, sitting cross-legged by her.

"Yes. Why do you ask?"

"You have great insight and intuition. You seem to feel my presence. You know it's me without ever looking."

"It's the ranch. Something keeps me in tune with my senses. Not knowing what that something is scares me."

Gray Cloud laughed. "You worry about my grandson."

I wear my heart on my sleeve. My feelings and thoughts are an open book shining through my eyes. If other's see what's inside my head and heart, why can't I? She shook her head, needing a break from the confusion. "How are you and Colby?" she asked.

"Many years have passed with nothing. It cannot be healed over night or over days. We are talking and I enjoy having my grandson home."

"What if he chooses to leave?" she asked, now looking at her friend.

"He leaves with my blessing."

Megan's dream nagged at her, causing her both joy and confusion.

"You are troubled, child. Is it Colby?" Shaking her head, she wondered about this man's uncanny ability to read her like animal tracks. "I had a dream, a vision. I'm not sure what to call it."

"Like last summer when you saw your parents in the flames of the campfire?"

"No. Drums led me around a circle with a fire in the middle. Something more powerful entered the circle and forced me to stop dancing. A man, who never revealed his identity, stood there waiting, but for what? I reached out to touch him and he vanished."

Gray Cloud nodded. Moments passed without a word and Megan believed, for the first time, he would tell her the exact meaning of her dream. Should she get her hopes up? Before he spoke her shoulders sank. "Soon you'll uncover the mystery of your dream. For now, embrace it."

She wanted to shake the old man, despite knowing his words before he spoke them. In time, the answers would reveal themselves. Until then, Megan would keep searching the deepest recesses of her mind for another glimpse of the man who awakened her soul.

Gray Cloud patted her shoulder and then journeyed into the woods, heading home. "Does his home exist?" she wondered. "He seems mystical, like he's part of these surroundings appearing when needed." She pondered this thought for a few minutes, but then remembered that Danny and Jason had been to his house.
